About Us:
Based at Namakkal district in Tamilnadu, India, Women's Organisation in Rural Development (WORD) is a registered non governmental organisation (NGO) working for the upliftment of rural people especially women and children. WORD was incepted in the year 1985. WORD has got its statuatory recognition in the year 1988. WORD spreads its activities in all spheres and its integrated approach helps the overall development of women, children and the society. All the programs of WORD are people's program and with their fullest participation at every stages. We at WORD strongly believe in the strength of people especially women and children.
Legal Status:
WORD is registered charity as a non-profit organisation under the Indian Trust Act of 1882. WORD is an approved charity recognized by the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of India under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) of 1976. WORD is registered under 12 AA and 80-G of the Indian Income Tax Act of 1961.
Geographical Area of work:
WORD focuses its current activities primarily in Namakkal district and partially in Salem and Erode Districts of Tamilnadu, South India having its administrative office at Pallipalayam with branch offices in Namakkal. WORD also runs a short stay residential home and a vocational training centres in Namakkal with the funding support of Terre des Hommes, Netherlands. Under the dynamic leadership and guidance by Mrs. M. Renida Sarala, Director with the motivated staff strength of 45, WORD is proudly dedicated for the social cause and marching ahead in its tireless work with rejuvenated spirit with great ecstasy and joy.
