Over these years since its inception in 1985, WORD has been implementing various programs on health, education, environment and development domains with various developmental partners. Some of the major programs that WORD has implemented over these years are:
Income Generating Activity-Tailoring Unit, Leprosy Eradication, Adult Education, Mother Care, Child Care and Women’s Welfare, Environmental awareness camps for working women in factories, Evils of alcoholism, Environmental awareness campaign through “PADAYATHRA” covering nearly fifty villages, Waste Management Campaign, Free Medical Camps for Rural poor, Environmental awareness through cultural media campaign for the students of Bishop Heber College, Trichy, Awareness generation program for rural women, Training Camps in Health Basic hygiene and first-aid to Adi-Dravida Girls, HIV/AIDS Awareness program for Staff and students in High and Higher Secondary Schools in Namakkal, Erode, Salem and Coimbatore Districts, HIV/AIDS Awareness Program for Staff and Students, HIV/AIDS intervention program for Truck Drivers, Adult Literacy Program, HIV/AIDS Awareness Program through Street Theatre in 20 villages, Reproductive Child Health Program, Promotion of Adolescent Health for HIV/AIDS prevention education in schools, Bridge Course for School Drop-outs With the support of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Scheme, Child Labour Elimination Program, Street Children Contact Program, Sustainable Agriculture Program, Growing with the People’s Program, Project “Mottukkal”- A community Based Care and Support program for the HIV/AIDS affected/infected and other vulnerable children in Namakkal Union, Empowerment of Dry land Farming Communities through Sustainable Agricultural Alternatives, Prevention of HIV among the Drug Users , Community based Care and Support Program for the HIV/AIDS affected & infected person in Pallipalayam Block of Namakkal District, Reducing Substance Use Related HIV Vulnerability in Female Drug Users & Female Partners of Male Drug Users, Truckers Town Intervention Program in Namakkal Town, Youth Empowerment Project through Gender Sensitisation, HIV/AIDS prevention and Intervention Project for Truck Drivers in Pallipalayam area, CHAHA Program ( A community based care and support Program for the HIV/AIDS affected children) in 4 blocks in Salem District, Establishing Patient Counselling Centres in Namakkal, Trichengode, Komarapalayam and Rasipuram Government Hospitals in Namakkal District, Targetted Intervention for Migrant Workers in Namakkal District, Link Workers Scheme, Thalir Thiran Thittam (A tranformation change through awareness), CABA Pilot Program are the major Programs in the past implemented by WORD over the past years, Prevention of Child workers in Garment Industries.
