CABA Pilot Scheme
WORD co-ordinates the pilot Scheme called CABA in Salem District with the support of India HIV AIDS Alliance and National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO). To implement the scheme, WORD has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tamilnadu State AIDS Control Society (TANSCAS) and District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU)-Salem district. It is to be noted that the pilot CABA Scheme is to be implemented only in 10 districts in India while two in the state of Tamilnadu.
Under this pilot CABA project, WORD serve as a District Co-ordination Action Agency (DCAA). India HIV/AIDS Alliance, New Delhi act as a Task Force Agency.
A Project Co-ordinator and the training cum mainstreaming Officer have been recruited and the project is being implemented in full swing in Salem District. The line listing of all the children affected by HIV/AIDS among all the service delivery institutions and NGOs and mobilise the needed resources to the children and the families are being co-ordinated by the DAPCU- Salem district.
The recent review and re-orientation training program held at New Delhi which was organised by NACO from 11-12, January 2011.
The scheme has been extended with the entrusted support from UNICEF. The scheme will be evaluated sometime early next year and the results would pave way for its expansion/replication in other districts in the next phase of National AIDS Control Program IV (NACP-IV).
In this regard, UNICEF convened a review meeting, organized by Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), Government of India and NACO on September 27 - 28, 2011 in New Delhi.
