Microscale CDM Biogas Project
WORD in Namakkal is one of the coalition member NGO of SCINDeA biogas coalition to implement micro scale domestic bio gas CDM project in Namakkal District under the Clean Development Mechanism of the UNFCCC under the Kyoto Protocol with the support of Fair Climate Network. The CDM project aims to reduce fuel wood and kerosine usage and assist 5000 poor women in Namakkal District. |

To gain the first hand experience and orientation, WORD team visited the Low Carbon Farming (LCF) project with BEST, Pudukkottai who has already been involved in this sector. Formal orientation program was conducted for the staff of WORD at Bagepalli, Karnataka on 15 May 2011 along with other SCINDeA biogas coalition partners, which was facilitated by Mr. Ram Esteves, Director, ADATS and a follow-up training program was conducted on 23rd May 2011which was facilitated by Mrs. Sudha, CDM Expert at Kengeri, Karnataka.

WORD has started constructing the biogas units in Namakkal District. We have constructed and maintaining 300 biogas units as of February 2022.
